Your Role as Content Strategist

You can look at a brand and decipher what stories need to be told to help it grow and evolve in directions that strengthen your customer relationships and positioning in the marketplace.

You understand a brand’s messaging, voice, and tone and bring that together with their audiences’ preferred language and information needs. You see content as part of a holistic lifecycle for online experiences from creation to optimization and excel in the following areas:

  • Audience research
  • Ideation and planning
  • Storytelling
  • Copywriting and editing
  • Content production

As Content Strategist, you will be responsible for content planning and copyediting as well as design and development of rich content such as image-driven stories, infographics, and interactive pieces. 

As Content Strategist, You Will:

  • Plan and execute all web, SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and display advertising campaigns
  • Design, build and maintain our social media presence
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
  • Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience
  • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points
  • Instrument conversion points and optimize user funnels
  • Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners
  • Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate

You are Perfect for this Role If:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Preference shown to candidates who have obtained relevant professional certifications within the last 3 years and candidates who actively seek out freelance jobs in areas they are passionate about
  • You have excellent attention to detail, writing and copyediting skills, and the ability to generate polished, publishable, client-ready copy on tight schedules
  • Like a master chef who can create ten dishes from one single ingredient, you understand how to dice up one content assignment and repurpose it to be accessible to readers in a wide variety of mediums and contexts (bonus points for having examples demonstrating this in your portfolio)
  • You have an eye for social media content that will really engage your followers
  • You can develop strategic documents like brand positioning canvases and brand/style guides with your eyes closed (including voice, tone, and style)
  • You don’t just write compelling content, but you go back and learn from every piece by analyzing the performance metrics to determine what is getting the most traction and interest with readers
